Photography and Text by: Bruno TheveninIsrael seems to be echoing the strategy it launched in Gaza on October 7th: devastating the land, terrorizing the population, demanding the evacuation of areas it intends to strike, and instilling widespread panic.

The Shatila Palestinian refugee camp, located in Beirut, was established in 1949 for the thousands of Palestinians fleeing the Nakba—those expelled by Israeli forces. Today, an estimated 22,000 people live there. In 1982, during the Lebanese Civil War, this camp was the site of the infamous Sabra and Shatila massacre.

For three days, Lebanese Phalangist militias entered the camp and murdered over 3,000 Palestinians while the Israeli army stood by and watched. The UN General Assembly later described this massacre as an act of genocide.

Today, history is repeating itself. The residents of Shatila, who have already lost everything once before, now live in constant fear of new bombings.

This strategy of senseless killing is not merely a military tactic; it is a tool of psychological warfare against a civilian population that has nowhere left to run.

Throughout the country, the scenes of destruction are harrowing. Entire neighborhoods in Beirut, such as Dahieh, have been reduced to rubble.

The international community watches in silence as the humanitarian crisis deepens and the number of displaced persons grows by the thousands every day. For the Palestinian refugees in Lebanon, this is not a new conflict, but the continuation of an extermination that began decades ago.

Líbano: matar por matar
Israel parece estar repitiendo en Líbano la misma estrategia que comenzó el 7 de octubre en Gaza: destruir el territorio, amenazar a la población, exigir la evacuación de las áreas que planea atacar e infundir pánico.
