Scars from Gaza
Since 2024, Palestinian children injured during the war in Gaza have been evacuated through neighboring countries as part of emergency medical corridors. Many were wounded during airstrikes and ground fighting, surviving attacks, displacement, and prolonged shortages of food, water, and medical care before they were able to leave the territory.
Some were transferred through Egypt, while others were evacuated through Jordan, undertaking long and exhausting journeys by bus and plane before reaching hospitals in Europe and other destinations for urgent medical treatment. Traveling with their families and carrying few belongings, they leave behind destroyed homes and an uncertain future.
Beyond their physical wounds, these children carry deep psychological trauma. Some arrive with amputations suffered in infancy and must relearn basic movements, while others face serious illnesses, including cancer, requiring long-term treatment far from home. Their journey out of Gaza does not mark the end of their suffering, but the beginning of a new life shaped by recovery, loss, and uncertainty.
